SAY NO TO FATNESS
GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE:
TODAY, THE TOPIC OF MY SPEECH IS ‘SAY NO TO FATNESS’.
IT IS NOT ALARMISM. NOWADAYS, FATNESS BECOMES ONE OF THE 4 DIFFICULT PROBLEMS INCLUDING DRUGGING, DRINKING AND AIDS. IT RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE IMPORTANT AND PERSISTENT AILMENTS, WHICH AFFECT HUMAN BEING’S HEALTH.
ALONG WITH ECONOMY GLOBALIZATION, FOOD INDUSTRIALIASATION AND URBANIZATION, FATNESS IS SPREADING QUICKLY ALL OVER THE WORLD.
THE US IS ONE OF THE COUNTRIES WHICH ARE THE MOST SERIOUS SITUATION. THERE IS A FAT PEOPLE AMONG 3 AMERICANS. ACCORDING TO A SURVEY IN 2000, OVERWEIGHT AND FAT PEOPLE ARE ABOUT 65% OF THE TOTAL POPULATION IN THE US. FATNESS NOT ONLY BRINGS INCONVINENCE TO FAT PEOPLE BUT ALSO CREATES BIG BURDEN TO THE SOCIETY. FOR FLIGHT SECURITY, SOME AMERICAN AIRWAYS REQUIRE PASSENGERS WHO ARE OVER THE STANDARD WEIGHT TO BUY 2 TICKETS ONE TIME PER PERSON. IN THE HOSPITALS, DOCTORS FEEL IT INCONVINENT TO TAKE BLOOD PRESSURE FOR FAT PEOPLE, BECAUSE ORDINARY BANDING OF TAKING BLOOD PRESSURE CAN NOT PACK THEIR FAT ARMS. MOREOVER, MANY FAT PEOPLE MUST BUY TAILOR-MADE BIG SOFAS. A FOURNITURE MANUFACTURER SAID THEY ARE PRODUCING A SOFA WHICH CAN BEAR THE WEIGHT OF 400 KILOGRAMS. IN RECENT YEARS, MANY AMERIAN FAT CHILDREN ACCUSED MCDONALD’S. THEY SAID MCDONALD’S HAMBURGERS AND CHIPS MADE THEM FAT. BUT THE EXPERTS INDICATED THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT HAS TO TAKE MEASURES TO REDUCE FATNESS GROWTH RATE, IF NOT, PUBLIC SPENDING ON HEALTH IS INTOLERABLE FOR GOVERNMENT.
MEANWHILE, IN CHINA, THE NUBMER OF FAT PEOPLE INCREASE QUICKLY. CHINA YOUTH DAILY REPORTED THERE ARE 186 MILLION ADULTS ABOVE 18 YEARS OLD WHO HAVE BLOOD FAT ABNORMITY. NEWLY ADDED FAT PEOPLE APPEAR MAINLY IN BIG CITIES LIKE SHANGHAI. A NEWSPAPER STORY SAID SHANGHAI PUPILS’ FANTESS RATE REACHES 15.2%. THE BIRTH CONTROL POLICY OF CHINA MEANS MOST OF THE FAMILIES HAVE ONLY ONE CHILD. THE CHILD IS PAID GREAT ATTENTION TO BY THE WHOLE FAMILY. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PERSUADE PARENTS TO LET CHILDREN EAT A BIT LESS IN THIS COUNTRY WHICH SUFFERED FROM WIDESPRED FAMINE DECADES AGO. AS APPOSED TO THIS, MANY PEOPLE LIVE UNDER THE STANDARD OF $1 EVERY DAY IN CHINA.
FATNESS NOT ONLY AFFECTS WORKING, LIVING AND APPERANCE BUT ALSO HARMS HEALTH. FAT PATIENTS GET MANY DISEASES MORE EASILY. AND THEY ARE FACED WITH DEATH RISK OVER 50% TO 100% THAN ORDINARY POPLE.
WELL, TRADITIONAL WAYS OF LOSING WEIGHT ALWAYS CALL FOR DOING LOW-IMPACT EXERCISE, BECAUST IT IS SAFER AND CONSUMES FAT. BUT IT IS ONLY ONE IMPORTANT PART OF LOSING WEIGHT. MOST OF THE TIME, LOSING WEIGHT MUST COMBINE PROPER DIET, THEN YOU WILL OBTAIN GOOD RESULTS.
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR WAY. YOU SHOULD CONTROL YOUR DIET, NOT FAST. FAST WILL HARM YOUR HEALTH BABLY.

A father in Shandong province of eastern china saw that his daughter was naked to talk with net friends on the video. When they quarreled, the father choked accidentally his daughter.
A mother in Heilongjiang province of northeastern china found most alarmedly that her son who was only 12 years old took off his clothes to take part in naked Internet chatting.
The two cases happening last month have not isolated episode and sounded the alarm for the problem of Chinese Internet moral.
A research project in shanghai shows that about 20,000 persons log in Internet chat rooms to take part in naked internet chatting at midnight each night.
《Shanghai Daily》, an English newspaper, reported whether such behavior broke the law about forbidding Internet sexy content now. When interview, Shanghai Police Bureau refused to comment on it.
Liugang, a researcher of China Youth Union who researches the problem of naked Internet chatting, is going to give his research results to involved government department. Liu said:” In the beginning, I thought it was a game that just some madly persons played. But with the process of research, I found the problem was worse than had been estimated. ”
According to getting datum from websites providing similar services, Liu rough estimated there were about 10,000 to 20,000 persons that logged on chat rooms for naked Internet chatting every night.
First, a person who wants to take part in naked Internet chatting must download a multilateral video chat software and install a network pick-up head to your computer. Then they start to chat with net friends as taking off their clothes and posture in various flirtatious poses. Each chat room can hold ten persons, but in the normal course of events he will disconnect with the chat room if he logs on the chat room but he has not a network pick-up head.
Liu and his co-workers who research this projects together have not used network pick-up heads, but fortunately they logged on some chat rooms and talked with actors. At last they collected ten actors’ datum. Most of them, including 8 persons who were 25-year-old to 35-year-old single men, have not safe jobs.
Han Xiaoyang, a researcher of Callan Graduate School of Shanghai Social Science Academe, said that maybe some youth took part in naked Internet chatting for satisfying their desire to sex, “but the act will make a bad difference for the youth’s growing.”

Dear Pen Pal,
This summer is hotter than last summer in Shanghai. According to the weather report, there have already been 28 high temperature days so far (or “up to now”). But my schedule almost doesn’t vary every day.
I usually get up at 7:15 am every morning. Then I wash my face and clean my teeth after having a shave. After that, I leave my home and go to the bus station at 7:45 am. Usually I don’t have breakfast at home, but I take an apple with me and buy two tea-flavored eggs for my breakfast on the way to the company.
I go to the company by bus and subway. It often takes about one hour for me to go to the company. Shanghai’s traffic is very boring. I must arrive at the company by 9:00.
In the morning I sometimes have a meeting with my boss for about half an hour. I eat lunch with my co-workers at the company’s dining room from 12 pm until 1 pm. Occasionally we eat out. In the afternoon sometimes I work at my office, and sometimes I go to visit customers. I leave work at around 5:30 pm.
After working, I often go to Web to learn English or go to the gym to do some exercise. So I seldom eat dinner with my parents.
I get home at around 9:30 pm. When eating some food, I watch TV. Then I take a shower. I go to bed between 11:00 and 12:00.
I get up late in the morning at weekends. On Saturday or Sunday I leave home and go to the Web for English learning. on another day I have a good rest at home.

Good evening, every one:
My speech topic is Niulang and Zhinu.
Long long ago, there is a honest and virtuous young man named Niulang. His parents have pasted away. His sister-in-law, Mashi, is very vicious. Niulang is often abused by her and does lots of work every day. One day Mashi asks him to herd cattle. She gives him nine cattle, but she tells Niulang he can not come back until he has ten cattle. Nilang can do nothing but leave the village.
Niulang herds cattle and goes into the mountain. On the mountain, he is very sad sitting under a tree. He does not know how to have ten cattle and when he can come back. At that time an old man who has white long beard appears in front of him. After knowing everything about Niulang, the old man laughs and says to Niulang:” Don’t worry. There is a sick cattle on Funiu Mountain. You could take care of it. When it recovers, you can herd it back.
Niulang walks a long distance and finds the cattle. After he takes care of it very carefully for 3 days, the cattle says to him:” I am a god-man named Huiniu in the heaven. I become a degradand because I disobey the heaven rules. And I breaks my leg and can not walk. Only 100 flowers’ dew can make me healthy after using it for a month.” So Niulang picks flowers and collects dew in the daytime. He sleeps beside the cattle at night. After the cattle is well, Niulang herds happily ten cattle to go home.
After he comes back, Mashi still treats him badly. She murders him several times, but the cattle does something to save him. At last, Niulang is driven out of the house. He is just accompanied by the cattle.
One day, Zhinu descends the world and has a bath with her sisters at the river. With the help of the cattle, Niulang knows Zhinu. They fall in love. So Zhinu becomes Niulang’s wife. She does not return the heaven. In the world she teaches people how to produce smooth and soft satin. After marriage, Niulang cultivates land and Zhinu weaves every day. After some time, they have two children, a daughter and a son. They are very happy.
But good times don’t last long. Queen mother of the west, Wangmu, knows it. She is very angry. However, according to the heaven rules, god-man and everyman are not allowed to marry each other. So she sends for soldiers to catch zhinu and take her on the way to the heaven by force.
Niulang doesn’t want to lose his wife, but he can’t fly as god-man. At that time, Huiniu tells him:” after my death, you can use my skin to make a pair of shoes. You wear the shoes and you can fly.” As the cattle finishes saying, it dies. Niulang is very sad. Then he wears the cattle skin shoes, takes his children and fly to go after Zhinu. As Niulang almost catches zhinu, Wangmu pulls out her hairpin and throws into the sky suddenly. So a large river is formed between Niulang and Zhinu. The river isolates them and they can’t meet any more. The river is just galaxy. Though the river separates them, they love each other forever.
Their love touches strongly pies’ hearts. Millions of pies fly to the river and use their bodies to build a bridge above the galaxy. Niulang and zhinu meet on the bridge at last. Wangmu can do nothing but allow them to meet on the bridge on the Seventh day of the seventh month of Chinese lunar calendar.
As the story goes, it is a meeting day for Niulang and Zhinu on the Seventh day of the seventh month every year. Thus Qixi Festival is formed bit by bit. On Qixi Festival lovers will present gifts each other. Now Qixi Festival is called Chinese Valentine’s Day too. Recently a deputy to the people’s congress suggests that the government should establish Qixi Festival as legal holiday. Qixi Festival becomes a more and more important traditional holiday for Chinese.

Niulang was a young man. He was an orphan. He just had a cattle and treated it as a friend. He worked hard. Every morning, he got up very early and left for work with his cattle.
He was single. His home is usually untidy. One day when he arrived his home, he found out that his home became very clean and orderly. Dinner has been cooked and was sending out attracting smell. The same thing happened in the following days.
So one day he pretended to leave for work, then he returned home secretly. Oh, God! He saw that a beautiful girl was cleaning his room. This girl was Zhinu. She was granddaughter of the Queen mother of the west, Wangmu. Though Zhinu was a fairy, she loved Niulang because he worked hard and he was a good man. In fact, when he saw her, Niulang loved her. They were falling in love.
They were married. After marriage, they had two children, a son and a daughter. Every day Niulang went to work with his cattle and Zhinu weaves at home. They were very happy.
However, according to rules of heaven, god-man and everyman were not allowed to marry each other. Wangmu got very angry when she knew Niulang had married Zhinu. So she sent for soldiers to catch Zhinu and took her on the way to the heaven by force. Niulang did not want to lose his wife, their children could not lose their mother, but Niulang and his children could not fly as god-man. At that time, his cattle spoke suddenly. The cattle was a god-man too, it said it could help Niulang. The cattle performed magic tricks to make him and his children fly.
As Niulang almost caught Zhinu, Wangmu pulled out her hairpin and threw into the sky suddenly. So a large river was formed between Niulang and Zhinu. The river isolated them not to meet. This river is just galaxy. Though the river block off them, they love each other forever. Their love touched strongly pies' hearts. They used their bodies to build a bridge above the galasxy on the seventh day of the seventh of Chinese lunar calendar every year. Niulang and zhinu could meet at last that day.
The seventh day of the seventh of Chinese lunar calendar is called Chinese Saint Valentine's Day now.

To me, May 29th, 2005 is a memorable day. On that day, I took my first class at the English trainging center. There were 4 students at the pvivate class. The teacher is from the UK. In the beginning, I felt a little nervous and I was afraid that I could not understand the teacher's questions. But the teacher spoke English slowly and clearly, talked humorously about the text with us. I liked the easy atmosphere.
It is an important way to learn English by multimedia courseware at the center. It is really boring to face the computer lonely and repeat 'where are you from' ceaselessly. But this way is indeed helping me improve my English.
On the way home or to the company, I often listen to English programs on the radio. Besides, I spend about three nights a week on English Learning. Sometimes, I go to English corner at the center. Last week, I took one class at the English corner. The topic of the class was about the UK. And there are lots of diffences between Uk and China.
At the center, I have made some new friends. I like learning English at the English training center.
